Music
Welcome to the Music
section, I have brought together a few songs I have written over the years
using a program called Sibelius. If you don't already have the Sibelius
Scorch Plug-in
download it then click on the piece you want to hear.
Update : Songs now available in midi although I still recommend you download
scorch, it'll only take a minute and it's a useful plug-in. Also the midis
didn't export properly so some of them have distorted speeds.
-Exiled NEW
A song for the
play Will and I are writing, a sequel to "Pirates of Penzance" written for
all the people who didn't get main parts in the school play. It is sung to
Edward (Will) and Joe (Myself) after they accidentally kill the Pirate
King's pet lemur. Yes it is supposed to be stupid so feel free to laugh, oh
and forgive the lyrics, I know they are not top notch, that is Will's
department I get him to write some real lyrics soon.

-Jazz
Waltz NEW
A very short jazz
waltz I wrote in 20 minutes when experimenting with jazz.

-La
Folia Theme and Variations INCOMPLETE
This String Quartet is based
on the Folia chord progression invented in baroque times (you can learn more
about it here). It is not yet complete but
I think it may be my best work to date. Don't listen to it now if you don't
want to be spoiled before hearing the finished product.

-The Anthem to
Andy
This song started out
as a joke. A Simpsons episode was talking about national anthems and how
caves in prehistoric times had anthems. I though it would be funny to write
an anthem for me. I was at first stumped on where to start so I decided to
use baroque composition techniques I learned in class as a guide line.
Before I knew it, it started to sound pretty good so I actually worked harder
and took it seriously. I think this is one of the if not "the" best song I
have ever written. It's not done yet but I'm working hard on it, It's almost
up to 100 bars. The part that sounds like a rock song was at first
accidental, I think it sounds like Rock because I accented the 4th and 6th
quaver beats in the bar. Oh well enough blabbing on about stuff half of you
don't understand or plain just aren't interested in reading. Enjoy!
Update! The first movement is finished.

-A Place
for Myself
A piano piece I'm working on,
it is not complete but I decided to post it anyway, It's one of my better
one
(pathetic as it is).

-Canon in D Variation
A Variation of Pachabel's
Canon in D I wrote in class whilst studying the baroque period in Music.

-Another Canon in D Variation
I wrote this one at
home using some of the material from the one I wrote at school, the reason I
did this was because at home I was freed from two main limitations I had in
class, one of them was time, and the other was that the specifications for
the class projected said that the canon had to be presented in canon from,
i.e. one instruments starts and then another enter enters playing the exact
same thing. Oh and don't be too impressed, anyone who has tried knows that
when you write a variation of Canon in D based on the chord progression it's
easy to make it sound good. However I'm still proud of it :).

-Impressionism
A piece written in the Whole-Tone
scale (mostly) I wrote whilst studying the Impressionist period in Music.
-Scorch
, Midi
-Minimalism
Don't think I've gone crazy, I wrote this one
whilst studying minimalism, the technique of writing a son using as little
material as possible. I know, I know, I think it sounds weird too (wait
until you hear my expressionist piece :S).

-Expressionist
Yes, scary music. The expressionist period
started after the first world war during the great depression and went into
the second world war. Composer at=t the time expressed them selves in all
kinds of ways, This atonal piece it written with the tone row system.

-Minuet in D
Another song I wrote
while studying the baroque period, This is a minuet for the piano in ternary
form (for those of you who noticed, I know I have one less bar than needed I
lost one mark for this and it was what kept me from scoring a 100% average
in composition in class :P). -Scorch
, Midi
-The Crowning of a Jester
I wrote this song while studying Polytonal
music, this song is polytonal and so is based in several keys... at the same
time! -Scorch
, Midi
-Winter
This is a variation of Winter from Vivaldi's
famous Four Seasons. It was written while I studied rock in music.

Music
by Others
Here are some songs by other
people, if you wish for me to put your songs up here simply
email me, at the moment there are
no limitations but if too many people submit (not likely), I might have to
set some.
Music
by
Matt
Some songs by Matthew Lindley.
-Canon in D Variation
Since matt in in my music class
he also did a variation of Pachabel's Canon in D, it's quite nice,
better than mine? maybe if you have an opinion on this
email me.
-Scorch
, Midi
-Minuet in F
I'll admit that matt's minuet is better than me
straight out this time.
-Scorch
, Midi
-Splodge
Matt's attempt at impressionism.
-Scorch
, Midi
-Polytonal Music
I think matt was away for two periods when we
worked on polytonal music so you can see it was rushed and not really
complete. -Scorch

Music
by
Michael T.
Only one song here now, but I'm sure Michael will
submit more.
-Information Incorporated
Michaels Rock Composition from year 9, Meh! I
don't know how he made it but it's got more accidentals than a clumsy French
waiter. -Scorch

Music
by Tom Barton
Yay Tommy Barton,
everyone's favorite jolly and always happy boy... kind of guy, Tom is quite
a good composer I like his pieces.
-Crimson Star
Tom's rock composition he wrote with Emillie and
Tristan. Coolness.
